Bio
Jakob Boer (1987) schrijft om te worden wie hij is. Hij studeerde af in Kunsten, Cultuur en Media (BA, Cum Laude) en Literary and Cultural Studies (Research MA, Cum Laude) aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. In zijn studententijd schreef hij o.a. voor het opleidingstijdschrift Artefact en recenseerde hij film voor Cultuurbewust.nl (nu Cleeft.nl) en heeft verder gepubliceerd in wetenschappelijke vaktijdschriften. Na een onderzoeksstage aan de universiteit van Pretoria (Zuid-Afrika) was hij onderzoeksassistent aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen waar hij participeerde in wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar de emotionele en cognitieve aspecten van de filmervaring.
Jakob Boer is a freelance writer. He completed his BA (Art, Culture and Media Studies, cum laude) and Research MA (Literary and Cultural Studies, cum laude) at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands). After graduating, he interned at the department of Visual Arts of the University of Pretoria (South Africa). Following he has had a position as research assistant at his home university in Groningen.
His research interests include film theory, philosophy, phenomenology, aesthetics, audience studies, and media theory. He specializes in audience reception within various institutional screening contexts, hoping to contribute to an enhanced understanding of how the film forms, distinct discursive framings and technological properties associated with these dispositifs afford particular viewing experiences.
